1. It’s a good idea to book a flight as soon as you know when you are going to be in Cappadocia. Why? Because quite often the demand is so high that all the balloon companies are fully booked for days ahead.
  2. All the balloon companies in Cappadocia are equal in terms of safety as they are all licensed by the same government authority – Turkish Aeronautical Association. If they don’t meet the safety standards, they don’t get the license/have their license revoked, and so cannot operate the flights. The pilots are licensed by the same government authority and have to pass regular flight checks.
  3. With some companies, you have an option to pay the fee directly before the flight. But please keep in mind that if you choose to pay by credit card, you will be charged 10% extra per person.
  4. The price of the balloon flight includes transfer from and to the hotel, breakfast, the flight itself and the treats offered after the flight. There are no additional costs.
  5. Children aged 0-6 and pregnant women are not allowed to fly due to safety regulations.
  6. If your flight gets cancelled due to weather conditions, you can re-schedule your flight for another date or get a full refund.
  7. When choosing what to wear for the flight, you should probably consider comfort first and foremost. It would be a good idea to wear comfortable shoes as you are going to stand for the duration of the flight, as well as long trousers and a long-sleeved top as mornings in Cappadocia are pretty chilly.
  8. The number of passengers in the basket is usually between 18-24. Smaller capacity baskets (10-16 people) are available at an extra cost. Passengers are separated into compartments, so that the basket is balanced and everyone can enjoy the view.
  9. Most of the flights take place before sunrise. But in winter there are also afternoon flights. They are quite rare but sometimes they are the only chance for you to rise up over Cappadocia, so it’s good to remember about this option.
  10. Try to book the flight for your first morning in Cappadocia. This way, if the flight is cancelled, you will have a better chance to re-schedule it for the next day.
