There are two airports in the immediate vicinity of most Cappadocia attractions: Kayseri and Nevsehir. As well as another one, Ankara airport, a bit farther away but still a good option in certain circumstances. The transfers to and from airports are operated by licensed transport companies with experienced drivers.

Kayseri airport (official name: Erkilet Havalimanı) is located 77 km away from Goreme and operates most of the flights to and from Cappadocia. It’s a pretty small facility compared to the giant hubs of Istanbul but its size allows it to be more homey and efficient, meaning that there are hardly ever any lines or crowds. There are a couple of pleasant cafes with a nice selection of meals, so you can have something to eat before your flight.

Nevsehir aiport (official name: Kapadokya Havalimanı) is not actually in the city of Nevsehir. It is located in Tuzkoy, about 42 km from Goreme. It is even smaller than the Kayseri airport. There is basically one medium-sized hall with a couple of check-in counters and, adjacent to it, a waiting area with a single boarding gate. It’s really handy in case you’re running late for your flight! Unfortunaley, there’s no cafe in Nevsehir airport, just a little utility store/souvenir shop, where you can get some snacks and a cup of instant coffee.

Ankara airport (official name: Esenboğa Havalimanı) is a little over 300 km away from Goreme, so it takes about four hours to get to your hotel. Now, it might sound like a lot but if you’re going directly to Cappadocia from abroad in a small group of 4-8 people, it might actually be advantageous money-wise. There are a lot direct flights from Europe to Ankara, and instead of buying 4-8 tickets from Ankara to Kayseri/Nevsehir, you can opt for a private transfer by minibus and save some money this way.

Private transfer from Ankara to Goreme is 200$ per minibus (3-10 people).
